Effective 12/31/16
PennDOT will no longer issue registration stickers
&
Vehicle registration renewals will now be available for a 2-year period

Effective December 31, 2016, PennDOT will no longer issue or provide registration stickers to be placed on your license plate nor will they issue replacement registration stickers. You are still required to maintain a valid & current registration and must present the registration card to law enforcement upon request and when having a safety inspection completed.

PennDOT will continue to mail you the registration renewal application (Form MV-105) approximately 60 days prior to expiration of your current registration. You then have the option to renew your vehicle registration at our office (where we will print out your registration card on the spot); mail the renewal card to PennDOT directly and receive your registration card in the mail; or you may now renew your registration online from home or your mobile device and print out your registration card. Upon signature on this printed card, this becomes your permanent registration card to be carried with the vehicle. Although this registration card is on plain paper and not on specific PennDOT-issued paper that you may be familiar with, it is your valid permanent registration credential. PennDOT will no longer mail a registration card to customers who choose to renew online.

Additional item of interest:
Also effective December 31, 2016, you will have the option to register your vehicle for a two-year period for certain types of motor vehicles. The fee will be two times the amount of the annual registration fee, so there is no discount if you elect this option. If your particular vehicle is eligible for this option, the fee will be listed in the “2-year fee” block on the registration renewal form (Form MV-105) sent to you by PennDOT approximately 60 days prior to expiration of your current registration period.
As always, feel free to stop by our office for more information or if you have questions.
We look forward to serving you!
